How we can help…

MK Automotive believes in offering an affordable, yet high quality alternative to main dealers, below are the service areas that we can help you with.

Air conditioning

A car’s air con needs regular maintenance to ensure it is functioning as effectively as possible. At MK Automotive we offer a complete air conditioning recharge service – we also offer a free air con check to see if you need a recharge.

The type of refrigerant gas your car uses depends on the year a car was manufactured. This will determine the cost of the recharge service – we will be able to advise the correct refrigerant gas you need and provide an estimate before any work is undertaken.

Diagnostics

Whether you own an Audi, Seat, Skoda or a VW, engine management lights can come on at any time and can be the result of a number of things. We have invested in diagnostic equipment and training to ensure we keep up-to-date with the latest software and hardware in your car. Our technician has the equipment and expertise to diagnose,  pinpoint and correct the fault(s).

Any diagnosed fault will be discussed with you and an estimate will be given before any rectification work is undertaken.

Any warning light that appears on the dashboards needs action – please do not ignore

MOT testing

An MOT test is required for vehicles when they are 3 years old – it is an annual test of a vehicle’s safety, roadworthiness and it’s exhaust emissions.

MK Automotive would be happy to carry out an MOT on your vehicle and if it meets the required standards you will be issued with a VOSA Certificate which lasts for one year. If your vehicle fails we will proved a no obligation estimate for any repairs that are needed. If any repairs are carried out your vehicle would be re-tested.

An MOT can be completed on the vehicle up to 28 days before this date – if you bring along your currently MOT Certificate the original test date will be carried our.

To check when your next MOT is due look on your current MOT certificate for it’s expiry date or you can check it’s MOT status on the Government website.

Servicing

Keeping your car serviced regular isn‘t a legal requirement, however there are a great number of reasons why you should…

Regular servicing will help identify potential problems long before they become real ones. During servicing essential checks are carried out on crucial vehicle components ensuring any potential problems are rectified before they become expensive.

Regular servicing will help the smoother running or your engine (oil changes) and help it maintain it’s fuel efficiently (oil and air filters replacements)

Regular servicing will improve the lifespan of your vehicle and if you decide to replace it then it’s value (with a full service history) is likely to attract a higher selling price and more potential buyers.

At the completion of each service your vehicle service record book will be stamped. In the case of newer vehicles that only have digital service records (which is the new way of recording and protecting your service history), we will complete your online Digital Service Schedule.

NB: If your car is still under warranty we are able to carry out work due to the automotive block exemption regulation which no longer requires you to have to have your car serviced at a main dealer.

Tyres & brakes

Faulty brakes and tyres could mean that a vehicle handles differently and it’s stopping distances are substantially increased meaning that you and other road users lives could be at risk.

We use the latest equipment to check wether brakes are safe and working effectively and that tyres are in good condition, are wearing evenly and your wheels are aligned correctly.

At MK Automotive we will carry out a comprehensive test on your brakes and tyres and compare the results against the manufacturers specified level for tolerance.

We stock a range of good quality tyre brands and are able to advise on the correct size for your vehicle and can offer advice on the brands available.

Valve cleaning

Over time combustion residue and carbon deposits will build up and contaminate the air intake via the EGR and crankcase ventilation system. These build ups may lead to irregular airflow, poor driveability and reduced fuel efficiency.

To avoid any complex disassembly of your engine, MK Automotive utilises the TUNAP System to remove all deposits and contamination of valves – this is a simple, quick process of using granulate particles to dislodge the build up and then using a neutralisation solution which dissolves the residual granulate particles. These are then vacuumed off together with the dirt removed preventing them getting into the combustion chamber.

Our valve cleaning solution cleans rapidly, effectively and gently without complex disassembly being needed, thus saving time and cost to you.

ZF gearbox oil change

Car manufacturers’ advice on replacing gearbox oil varies widely and a transmission that is not properly maintained will result in costly repairs or replacement, therefore, changing a vehicle’s transmission fluid is important for the life of the transmission. This is especially important for the ZF 8-Speed.

At MK Automotive we are able to help and advise you when your gearbox oil needs replacing.

QUALITY PARTS

At MK Automotive we are committed to providing the best service to our customers.

We also believe in using the best equipment and parts. These are some of the brands we deal with and supply.
